Documents on this web site mirror a report submitted in July 2003 to the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary (GFNMS) Advisory Council (SAC). These recommendations are comprised of draft action plans developed by working groups and internal teams. This report only includes Action Plans developed by GFNMS working groups and internal teams, as well as those developed by the Cross Cutting working groups (action plans applicable to two or more sanctuaries). It does not include action plans developed to address site-specific issues for the Monterey Bay or Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuaries. GFNMS and NMSP staff produced this report to provide the opportunity for the GFNMS SAC and members of the public to review and comment on the working group recommendations relevant to the Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuary prior to preparation of the Draft Management Plan and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The GFNMS SAC supported all recommendations in this document and a recommendation was made to the GFNMS superintendent to move forward with these proposed action plans in the final draft management plan.
Please keep in mind that these proposed action plans might not look exactly like the final draft action plans developed by working groups and internal teams. The draft action plans were reformatted for consistency and readability across all the issues. In particular, individual strategies and activities may have been edited for purposes of clarity. Every attempt was made NOT to alter the original intent of strategies and activities.
