- Surfrider supports:
- a complete
ban on all forms of Motorized Personal Watercraft (MPW)
- all forms
of surfing in the Sanctuary
- the use of
MPWs for rescue efforts
- resources
for enforcement of rules regarding MPWs
- Agricultural community
has more in common with MBNMS than GFNMS in regards to the boundary
issues
- San Mateo County
feels that the boundary should be at the Santa Cruz/San Mateo County
line.
- Sanctuary should
give consideration to the City of Monterey JMPR recommendations.
- Support for the
Alliance of Communities for Sustainable Fishing's petition.
- The Sanctuary
should not regulate fishing. Language in the management plan should
clarify that.
- Sanctuary Advisory
Council members should be elected by their constituents.
- Do not expand
Sanctuary boundaries with out comments from local communities. Especially
from fishermen
- Golden Gate Fishermens
Association supports the Alliance of Communities for Sustainable Fishing's
petition
- All possible zones,
boundaries etc. should be put in place with comment and consideration
from fishing communities and Alliance.
- Resolve boundary
issue and make it clear whose sanctuary it is.
- Protect natural
resources- water quality etc.
- Support for visitors
center/education.
- Resolve the donut
hole issue.
- Support Monterey
City Council recommendations.
- Do not expand
permitting/regulation of fishing do devisine?? Policing by sanctuary.
- Keep oil and gas
development out of MBNMS.
- Support efforts
to sustain baseline water quality efforts.
- Don't pile onto
CDFG/MLMA
- Lots of fishing
occurs in the donut hole.
- Work cooperatively
with commercial and recreational fishermen
