- Sustain opportunities
for public use but also protect resources
- Concerned about
water quality and sewage discharge
- Close the donut
hole off of San Francisco
- The Sanctuaries
should implement marine reserves
- Restrict bottom
trawling, concerned about damage to the seabed
- Implement consistent
rules on white shark attraction
- The SAC is a great
tool. It acts as the eyes and ears for the Resources Agency and is a
'two way street in terms of informing the public and informing agencies
- The SAC is experiencing
growing pains but just needs its role firmed up.
- The SAC should
not be a management council
- Water Quality
partnership is a model for how the Sanctuary should operate
- Resources Agency
hopes to play a role in GF/CB SACs
- Establish marine
reserves; this is an opportunity to test effectiveness of a few large
reserves vs. many small reserves
- Opposed to use
of 2 stroke MPWC (all craft types should be looked at).
- Look at both impacts
of MPWC in terms of both resource and aesthetic issues
- Coordinate master
planning efforts with USFWS refuge mgmt plans
- Encourage the
sharing of data with FWS refuge plans
- Encourage the
coordination between agencies in regulatory overlap
- Work with SWRCB
on coordination and encourage survey of resources through monitoring
&endash; S.W.A.M.P. Program
- Update MOA with
State incorporate NPS Plan, Oceans Plan, Storm Water, BTTP, Consolidated
THS, TMDL Programs
- Increase awareness
&endash; P.R. of Sanctuary Program through

- The SAC should
remain advisory. If it becomes a management council then it needs to
be reformulated to reflect national program
- Look at no-take
marine reserves
- Lack of points
(land based) for resource interaction and viewing
- Develop interpretive
tools
- Emphasize wildlife
viewing but protect resources
- Concerned about
disturbance from viewing from both kayaks as well as motorized vessels
and there is a need to produce "best practices" / guidelines
- Emphasize interagency
coordination
- Great GIS/Ed materials
coming out of CINMS, duplicate for northern Sanctuaries
- Create more interagency
partnerships and cooperation
- Implement and
staff the WQPP
- Maintain that
human use is allowed when consistent with resource protection.
