Elephant Seals
Northern elephant seals spend most of their time at sea, but during breeding and molting seasons they come ashore in places like Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. During breeding season, males -- which can weigh more than 4,000 pounds and have a large, elephantine proboscis -- fiercely compete for females. These seals can be great fun to watch, but make sure to give them plenty of space! Although they may look docile lounging on the beach, they can be extremely quick and aggressive. #EarthIsBlue
