Today was a big day on board the Endeavor. This is the day we aired our live broadcast of the expedition to the Monitor. The tropical storm moved further away from shore so our weather stayed fairly calm all day, although I can certainly feel the difference in the wind and wave action today compared to the previous days.
The broadcast went tremendously well. We couldn't have done it without the support of the production team from NOAA's Ocean Media Center, the fantastic crew on board the Endeavor and the support from our viewing sites.
We reached thousands of people through a variety of channels including the Immersion Presents Network and the internet. We had media coverage on CNN and in multiple newspapers nationally and internationally. We also had tv time on a station in Raleigh, North Carolina and two radio spots in Boston and Savannah. Being a part of this expedition is one of the greatest experiences of my life. I am happy that we not only had great weather and collected the data that we need for scientific purposes, but also had the opportunity to share the mission with the world.
We're currently headed back to Norfolk for our Port Call at Nauticus. If you live locally we'd love to show you around the research vessel on July 21 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
